The City Clerk’s primary task is to function as the corporate secretary to City Council, ensuring that all Council Agendas, Minutes of proceedings, resolutions, decisions, voting, records, and accounts are recorded, documented and certified.
As well, the Department is responsible for the management of corporate records, the administration of municipal elections, the sale of municipal cemetery services, management of cemetery records, and the coordination of official civic receptions. The City Clerk is also a Division Registrar for the Office of the Registrar General and is responsible for the registration and recording of all births and deaths occurring in the municipality, as well as the issuance of marriage licences.
