The John Rhodes Community Centre is a first-class facility for hosting sporting competitions and other tourism related activities.
The facility includes: - 25 metre – 8 lane pool
- ramp entrance into the main pool
- beach-front tot pool
- spectator viewing for approximately 400 in the pool area
- family change rooms
- gymnastic facilities
- a community ice surface (85’ x 185’)
- an NHL (85’ x 200’) ice surface
- 300 seats in each arena
- a goalie/shooter school
- a special function/meeting room
- a multi-purpose classroom
- tournament centre room office
- a 210 seat lounge/restaurant (Brody’s Bar & Grill)
- food and beverage concession areas
- a 700 square foot pro shop
- an elevator
User groups of the pool facilities are: Red Cross Swim Program, Sault Ste. Marie Aquatic Club, Northern Storm Aquatic Club, Soo Tridents Underwater Hockey Club, Soo Masters Polar Bear Club, the Algoma District School Board and the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board.
User groups of arena facilities include: Sault Major Hockey Association – Minor Hockey; Molson’s Men’s League and Steel City Men's League – Adult Hockey; Sault Figure Skating Club; Lake Superior Figure Skating Club; Sault Female Hockey Association; and the Sault Ste. Marie High School Hockey League.
The City’s Accessibility Centre is located in the John Rhodes Community Centre.
