Sault Ste. Marie Transit Services provides a reliable and comfortable public transport service.
We continually monitor the needs of our passengers, and review our service delivery on a regular basis in order to maintain people's interest in our public transport service.
Sault Ste. Marie Transit has 8 major bus routes and 3 Community bus routes serviced by a fleet of 26 (40 foot) Conventional buses and 2 (30 foot) medium duty buses. These 11 fixed routes cover 1.765 million kilometres annually and provide for 1.95 million passenger trips in 2013.
Our Parabus service is comprised of 9 Parabus vehicles, which travel a total of 262,723 kms (2013), and provide 47,258 passenger trips (2013) for 2,641 registered clients (July 2014).
Transit similarly operates a charter service, which functions within the Urban Service Area.
Transit Staff are also a resource to the Transit Sub-Committee which is comprised of a group of community volunteers, member(s) of the Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC), stakeholders, and Parabus Clients who provide formal input and advice to Transit Services.
This committee continues to focus on advocacy and transportation issues on behalf of the citizens of Sault Ste. Marie regarding service policy and have input on the annual accessibility plan.
