• individually or as a member of a group achieved provincial or national or international accolades in an athletic or other competitive endeavour;
• individually or as a member of a group achieved a standard of excellence in a cultural, academic or humanitarian field; or
• over a period of years has made an outstanding contribution to the community;
• the individual has lived in the City of Sault Ste. Marie or surrounding area of Algoma for a minimum of 12 months at any point during the individual’s lifetime.

Nominations
Nominations can be made by anyone and received by the City Clerk until April 1^st of that year. Limit of five stars per year except for inaugural year. No one can receive an award more than once. The winners are announced at a date to be determined in conjunction with the Downtown Association seasonal event deemed most appropriate.
