Walk of Fame
The Walk of Fame Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to our community, nation, or global landscape.
The Walk of Fame star is awarded to an individual for outstanding athletic, cultural, academic or humanitarian achievement or outstanding contribution to the community, to a person who:
- individually or as a member of a group achieved provincial or national or international accolades in an athletic or other competitive endeavour;
- individually or as a member of a group achieved a standard of excellence in a cultural, academic or humanitarian field; or
- over a period of years has made an outstanding contribution to the community;
- the individual has lived in the City of Sault Ste. Marie or surrounding area of Algoma for a minimum of 12 months at any point during the individual’s lifetime.
Nominations
Nominations can be made by anyone and received by the City Clerk until April 1st of that year. Limit of five stars per year except for inaugural year. No one can receive an award more than once. The winners are announced at a date to be determined in conjunction with the Downtown Association seasonal event deemed most appropriate.
