Mayor's Award
The City of Sault Ste. Marie and Volunteer Sault Ste. Marie co-sponsor the Mayor’s Award, which annually recognizes a business or for-profit organization for outstanding commitment to the not-for-profit community.
Awards are presented in three categories: businesses with 1-9 employees, those with 10-100 employees, and businesses with over 100 employees.
The Mayor’s Award Advisory Committee evaluates nominations on the following basis:
- The business or for-profit organization must have been established for a period of one year prior to the nomination.
- The business or for-profit organization must have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the not-for-profit community of the City of Sault Ste. Marie.
- The voluntary contribution must have provided a significant influence on the service provided by the not-for-profit organization.
- Nominees can be recognized for cash or in-kind donation in relation to material, or service, i.e. arts, educations, environment, health, human services, material resources, mobilization of volunteers, public safety, recreation/sports.
The 2009 Mayor’s Awards are presented at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner & Awards Evening which will take place on April 24, 2009.
