Nominations Nominations may be filed by candidates at the Clerk’s Department Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Nomination Day (September 10) from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Candidates’ Campaign Period The Campaign Period begins on January 4, 2010 or whenever a candidate files nomination papers, whichever is later, and ends on December 31, 2010 unless the candidate withdraws the nomination, incurs a deficit or the City Clerk rejects the nomination.

Enumeration A targeted mail-in enumeration will be conducted by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC).

Preliminary Voters' List A copy of the list will be available for review at the Clerk's Department in the Civic Centre and at a number of other locations to be announced.

Revisions to Voters’ List If your name was absent from the Voters’ List or is incorrectly entered on the list, you may make application with the Clerk’s Department to add or correct the information. An elector may make application to remove an elector’s name from the Voters’ List who is not qualified to be on the list.

Voting Qualification Period To be eligible to vote, a person must, at any time during this period, reside in the City of Sault Ste. Marie or be the owner or tenant of land in the City of Sault Ste. Marie or be the spouse of such a person; and be at least 18 years old and a Canadian citizen.

Nomination Day Last day for filing nominations. Nominations may only be filed between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Candidates are permitted to begin placing election campaign signs on municipal property.

Proxy Voting Certificates A person appointed as a proxy must apply for his/her proxy vote certificate in the Clerk’s Department Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a m. to 4:30 p.m. and on Advance Voting Days.

Advance Votes Voting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on October 9 and 16, 2010. Voting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 13, 2010.

Voting Day Voting hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Voting results commence after 8:00 p.m. Unofficial results will be available following the completion of the vote counting in all voting subdivisions.
