Winter Snow Event Update
Monday, January 7, 2019
With the significant snowfall, the City's Public Works team would like to provide the following updates and reminders.
Staff are working to keep the roadways safe and clear. Snow continues to be cleared first from the main and collector roadways. Residential areas and designated sidewalks will be cleared once the main and collector roadways are maintained. Sidewalks should not be blocked at any time in order to facilitate snow removal.
Motorists are reminded to drive according to the conditions and to give snow plow operators room to clear routes safely and efficiently. Under By-law 77-200-5(14), parking of vehicles on city streets is not permitted during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m. however, vehicles parked on the road during a winter event can cause delays during snow removal.
Transit Services is reminding riders to expect delays as a result of today’s extensive snowfall and poor weather conditions.
The City of Sault Ste. Marie thanks residents for their patience and cooperation during today's snow event. For more information, residents may contact Public Works at 705-759-5201 or email
