Let's Discuss Bicycle Routes

Friday, June 14, 2019

The City of Sault Ste. Marie is committed to creating a comprehensive network of bicycle routes across the community that link key points of interest, employment, recreation and residential areas. Queen Street and Willoughby and Wawanosh have been approved by City Council. Two additional cycling routes are now being considered:
  • Pine Street – Queen Street to Northern Avenue
  • Willow Avenue – McNabb Street to Northern Avenue
City staff are hosting a second information session to provide additional details on these bicycle routes:

Date: Thursday, June 20, 2019
Time: 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. (drop-in anytime)
Location: Algoma Public Health – 294 Willow Avenue, SSM Room A and B

The session will provide an opportunity to review and provide feedback on matters such as bicycle route dimensions, road conversions, on-street parking restrictions, signage, intersection configuration, and more. Join us as we continue to expand and connect the cycling network.

“Adding bicycle lanes benefits cyclists, increases safety for pedestrians, and has the potential to reduce traffic,” says Steve Turco, Senior Planner. “The proposed design of the cycling lanes are based on provincial best practices, and will help establish a more integrated transportation network in this area of the community”.

All are welcome to attend the public information session and share comments with City staff. For more information, visit the project web page at www.ShapeTheSault.ca/bikessm
