A summer packed full of events in Sault Ste. Marie!

Tourism Sault Ste. Marie is excited to announce a scintillating summer of exciting events in 2022. Fabulous festivals, adrenalin-fueled boat rides, inspiring art displays, cruises, concerts, carnivals, crazy-trains and so much more!

May 14 – Sault Ste. Marie Festival of Beer "A New Hop"  
Celebrating Ontario’s craft brew with over 100 different beers, ciders and seltzers.    
  
May 19–29 – Soo Pee Wee Carnival  
Rides, games and carnival eats for all ages at the annual Campbell Amusements Carnival.  
  
June 3-5 – Lilac and Lavender Festival  
Enjoy the fun, fragrance, and flavour of high tea with friends and family. Advance tickets required for an afternoon of delicious treats, entertainment and good company. 
 
June 4 – Gathering at the Rapids Powwow  
A time to gather, dance, sing and honour Indigenous traditions. Powwow tours are available with Thrive Tours.  
  
June 5 - Run the Great Lakes 
A race where you do not have to be fast. Support local charities with 5km and 10km distances. Open to all ages to run, jog or walk. 
 
Jun 11 – The Sh-Itter  
11 Outhouses. 12 Hours. No route. You choose your own adventure! Run or ride.  
  
June 17-18 – Queen St. Cruise  
Celebrate the nostalgia of what used to be. Fast cars, good friends and rock and roll.  
  
June 18-19 – Science North Great Northern Road Show  
Delicious food, local vendors, amazing music, and an exciting dash of science.  
  
June 21–26 – SummerMoon Festival 
A multi-cultural festival featuring the creation of large-scale murals, live performances, and daily art workshops.  
  
June 24 - Community Strong Festival  
A variety of races over the course of the weekend as well as many family activities including a marathon, half-marathon, 10km and 5km colour run raising funds to support physical and mental health.  
  
June 30 – Jul 3 – Poutine Feast  
Fries, gravy, cheese and so much more. Tempt your tastebuds at the World’s Largest touring Poutine Festival.  
  
July 1 - Canada Day  
Fireworks and festivities downtown under the Roberta Bondar Pavilion. 
  
Jul 2 – Nerd Con  
Calling all Nerds!  Enjoy comics, video games and all things pop culture.   
 
Jul 10 – Giovanni’s Italian Festival  
Celebrate Italian culture with delicious food, prizes and entertainment. 
 
Jul 14-16 – Rotary Fest  
100 years strong!  Enjoy live bands, ribbers, vendors, a parade and fun for the whole family. 
 
July 15–25 – Sail Superior  
Experience the St. Marys River or Lake Superior and explore the Sault harbour beyond the boardwalk views.  Take a thrilling tour with the ocean class 500HP Hurricane Zodiac 920.   
 
July 17–24 – Sault Pride Fest  
The Sault Pridefest is a celebration of LGBT2SQIA+ unity, diversity, inclusion and vibrant creativity. 
 
July 21-23 - Marconi Meets World  
A three-day cultural festival, hosted by the Marconi Cultural Event Centre featuring live bands, delicious foods and local vendors. 
 
July 23 - Crazy Train/ Algoma Trail Network Grand Opening   
Kick off the grand opening of the gnarliest new trail at Hiawatha. ALL ABOARD HA HA HA...CRAZY TRAIN! Bike or run, competitors will traverse a 2km loop with plenty of gain. The goal? How many loops can you do in 4 hours?  
 
July 30 – Aug 1 – Crank the Shield 
A multi-day point-to-point adventure, that you don’t just ride, you conquer!  This challenging cycling 130km odyssey takes you through Ontario’s stunning Algoma/ Canadian Shield country. 
 
August 11-13 - Blueberry Festival  
Blueberry Binge at the Ermatinger-Clergue National Historic Site! Advance tickets required. 
 
Aug 18-22 – Fringe North Festival 
Live Meets Digital - A Multi-Arts Experience.  Fringe North provides a platform for independent artistic expression with proceeds going directly to the artists. Join as an entertainer or spectator and celebrate the performing arts at Fringe North. 
 
Aug 20-21 – Garden River Powwow  
Join in a cultural gathering and celebration open to everyone. At the powwow, visitors will experience diverse culture through drumming, singing, dancing, arts and crafts, demonstrations, and some of the best tasting food. 
 
More events to be announced that include the 2022 Summer Concert Series, which takes place at Roberta Bondar Park Tent Pavilion every Tuesday and/or Thursday night in July and August.
